About the Quinta

Quinta de Santa Luzia is a traditional working Quinta. It is one of the few remaining on the Island that still possesses the characteristics of a farm or estate as they once existed in Madeira.

Aquired by John Blandy in 1826, the first Blandy to visit Madeira and the person to have established the now well-known family wine making business, the property has been in the family for 7 successive generations.

Comprising of a large essentially green space , this rural oasis near the centre of Funchal, offers an opportunity to experience Quinta lifestyle within three different accommodation types for guests.

  • The large family home and gardens, is principally self-catering with an abundance of history and charm. It offers a wide selection of facilities including a pool, full sized snooker table, piano, table football and tennis court. The house can be rented for events such as weddings, retreats, groups and incentives. 

  • There is the recently opened Bed and Breakfast at Quinta das Malvas, which serves to accommodate people in one of the finest properties in Funchal. It offers luxury and a refined atmosphere for the discerning traveller looking for a unique place to stay.
